A new brand identity

Capodimonte and Real Bosco Museum

Magister Art conceived and created the new brand identity for the Museum and Royal Park of Capodimonte, a nine-month process that began with an in-depth study of the context, an analysis of the target audiences, and the active involvement of stakeholders. Numerous interviews were conducted with external audiences, along with surveys for internal audiences; detailed iconographic research was carried out on the history of Capodimonte.

As a result, a brand strategy was defined that reflects the profound transformation the Royal Site is currently undergoing.

The resulting logo is an elegant fleur-de-lis enclosed within the letter “C.” It’s a symbol that encapsulates the origins and history of Capodimonte - from the Angiò to the Farnese and later the Borbone family - and represents its most important art collections.

The positive/negative interplay in the design gives the symbol both a classical and contemporary feel- distinctive and minimal. The leaf-like shape alludes to the merging of Nature and Culture, of the Park and the Museum, which is one of Capodimonte’s defining features.

The logo is also meant to convey the ecological transition that will make the Palace an energy-efficient and sustainable museum.

The letter C, with its rounded serifs, is inspired by the Bodoni typeface, designed by the printer from Parma in the mid-1700s—precisely the period during which Capodimonte was founded.

The new logo was presented to the public by Director Eike Schmidt during the press conference held on December 3, 2024, where he also announced major developments planned for 2025.
