Women in the UAE
How far we've come, how far we'll go
The Mother of the Nation is a multimedia, immersive exhibition that celebrates the role of women in the United Arab Emirates, which, since the founding of the Country, have increasingly won spaces of freedom and independence.
Organised by the UAE Ministry of Interior and promoted by the Permanent Mission of the UAE to the United Nations, the exhibition, conceived and produced by Magister Art, celebrates H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, affectionately known as the ‘Mother of the Nation’, a leader and pioneer in promoting gender equality and women’s rights in the UAE and abroad.
By adopting an interdisciplinary approach and integrating diverse languages and media, the exhibition The Mother of the Nation narrates through visual essays the policies, data, partnerships and initiatives undertaken by the UAE to ensure the empowerment of women and girls to strive and achieve their dreams.
High-impact installations combining nature, humanity and technology transform the Delegates Entrance area of the United Nations Headquarters in New York into an inclusive space open to exchange, where women tell their stories, their achievements, and their aspirations, bearing witness to an increasingly inclusive future.
On the occasion of the official visit of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak to Turkey in June 2025, “Desert Diamond” was presented — an immersive traveling capsule conceived and produced by Magister Art: a traveling stage machine of the exhibition “The Mother of the Nation. Women in the UAE”, celebrating the role of women in the United Arab Emirates.
Organized by the Ministry of Interior of the United Arab Emirates and hosted at the Nation’s Library – Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, the “Desert Diamond” installation, through multimedia content, conveys the essence of the human and institutional journey of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima, the Mother of the Nation, a central figure in social development and women’s empowerment in the United Arab Emirates.
