Ars Electronica Festival
09.09.2020 - 13.09.2020
The Italian Cultural Institute in Vienna is resuming its initiatives to promote Italian culture through an unprecedented version of the exhibition Magister Raffaello, an innovative, experimental and site-specific project, specially conceived for the celebration of the five hundredth anniversary of Raphael’s death and produced by cultural enterprise Magister Art for the Ars Electronica Center in Linz, one of the world’s most innovative museums, entirely devoted to new media art and artificial intelligence. Magister Raffaello is part of Ars Electronica’s 2020-2021 calendar and will be one of the highlights of the festival by the same name, to be held from 9 to 13 September 2020.
The augmented narration, implemented by technological and multimedia tools and presented in 8K, is at the centre of a journey into the life of the great master from Urbino, and unfolds through the cities where Raphael was commissioned his main works and produced his most significant creations. Through an immersive experience in the historical, cultural and artistic context of the Italian Renaissance, the visitors to the show will be able to gain in-depth insight into the masterpieces on display through a ‘total’ and experimental cognitive experience that amplifies and stimulates all their perceptive faculties. This is done by utilising the most advanced technological instruments as well as a mix of media and the combined use of visual, sound, narrative and scenographic languages.
Magister Raffaello will be inaugurated during the Ars Electronica Festival (9 to 13 September 2020) and will open its door to the public in the morning of 11 September. The exhibition will be screened until September 2021, in the Deep Space 8K section of the Ars Electronica Center - a venue with 16x9 m wall space and a 16x9 m floor screen, laser projectors and 3D-8K resolution images -, as well as in the Lecture Room, the ‘Best of’ sections, and special thematic events, such as Tag des Denkmals, Oberösterreichischer Museumstag, Aktion “Museum Total”.
